Stranger Things 5

Stranger Things 5 dropped the final season of one of Netflix’s most beloved shows on New Year’s Eve and it was the end
of an era. If it weren’t for Stranger Things, Netflix probably would not be as big as it is. The final season was spread out over two volumes and the season finale. The show began in 2016, and as the end approached, fans appeared divided about where it was headed. Overall, it seems most are very disappointed with the end. There was so much build up to this final season and it had a very large budget, but by the time the final battle between Vecna and the teens of Hawkings happened it lasted only about six and a half minutes. This season dragged out with episodes lasting over an hour. Fans identified plot holes and were disappointed with no character deaths, ruining the internet hype. Not that there needs to be character deaths, but with a finale like this where you want suspense, constantly faking out character deaths ruins the build up. Fans were underwhelmed with this anticlimactic ending, but one thing they agree on is that the final wrap up of the characters was very heartfelt and emotional. Perhaps what bothered fans the most was that it didn’t feel like the end. It feels like that they will eventually either make another season or a sequel when they are adults, similar to It Chapter Two. This is further backed up by the many spinoffs planned such as an animated show, a play, and one involving something that was shown in the final episode.
Avatar: Fire and Ash
Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third film in the Avatar franchise. This time the film follows the Sully Family as they deal with their grief from losing one of their own and facing off against the humans. But this time the humans have a new ally: the Ash people, an evil fire Na’vi clan. The film continues shortly after Avatar: The Way of Water and is again directed by James Cameron, who is also the director of The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Aliens, and Titanic. He is known for pushing filmmaking with new technology and was the man who pushed 3D and performance capture (also known as motion capture) animation. Critics think that this was one of the weaker movies with a critic score of 66% on Rotten Tomatoes. The previous Avatar films scored an 81% for the first movie and then a 76% for the second. Fans of Cameron and the Avatar franchise seem to love the film while others say that this one feels too similar to his previous two movies. Despite the film being the lowest rated, it surpassed $1 billion after only being out less than a month. So whether you love it or hate it, it has already become a success. If you love visual spectacles and lots of mindblowing action I’d highly recommend this film, especially if you like the Avatar movies.
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Kill Bill is a classic movie that was re-released in theaters in December, but when it originally debuted it came out as two separate movies (or volumes) in 2003 and 2004. Almost 20 years later it was back in the theaters as one four and a half hour long movie theater binge watch, with a 15 minute intermission. Some added interest this time around included additional extended scenes which add a whole new chapter that is animated. This is essentially Quentin Tarantino’s director’s cut. It’s best not to know anything except that it is a revenge film with wit and charm that offers top notch slapstick action that is sure to entertain.
