On Apr. 30, McDowell High School opened the annual Millcreek Secondary Art Show. The display, located in the MIHS Commons, was a showcase of student artwork from middle and high schoolers within the district. Art teachers spend all year curating presentation-ready artwork from students. Bethany Krowsoski, who teaches various art courses throughout the year at MIHS, helped to organize the exhibition, and sees the show as a chance to showcase Millcreek’s emerging talent.
“People will come into class like ‘I’m not an artist’ or ‘I can’t do art. I can’t draw a stickfigure’ or ‘I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler.’ We hear that one all the time, but there are people in those classes who said the same things two years ago and that’s not a thing. They just hadn’t learned how to do it yet.”Â
The Art Show is a showcase of not only natural artistic talent, but students’ dedication to growth and progress. The exposition stayed open for viewing throughout the month of May for students and faculty to appreciate and admire the work of Millcreek’s talented student artists.
