At McDowell Intermediate High School, their very own Screaming Eagles, the AFJROTC Corps, has gained a new ASI, Technical Sergeant Anthony Stone, who has liked his time here so far as the assistant Aerospace Science Instructor and being a part of McDowell as a whole.
This isn’t Sergeant’s first experience, however. He was an instructor at Edisto High School in South Carolina for a few years, before he moved to Erie, Pennsylvania.
As the assistant Aerospace Science Instructor at McDowell Intermediate, he assists with student issues and helps with inventory, which means to check what is left in logistics for cadet uniforms. Sergeant was a combat videographer for the first 8 of his 20 years of service, and the latter 12 he was a C5 loadmaster, according to his LinkedIn page.
The reason Sergeant Stone wished to be an Aerospace Science Instructor is because he found a sense of purpose while serving his time in the U.S. Air Force, and that’s why he wanted to become an Air Force Junior ROTC instructor.
Student-wise, the Corps Commander, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Zdunski, has said that Sergeant has mostly adjusted well to how the Corps works, but not McDowell as a whole, but that he will be there by the end of his first year.
The previous Aerospace Science Instructor whom Sergeant Stone replaced, Chief Master Sergeant David Holmes, was described as “…a very intense guy, but he’s able to relate really well to kids, and the kids absolutely loved him,” by Major Nygaard. It was due to this fact that Major was very relieved that everybody handled the transition well from Chief Master Sergeant Holmes to Sergeant Stone.
In short, so far Technical Sergeant Stone has liked his time here so far, the students have liked him and he has adjusted well.
